Mayor's Awards for Arts and Culture

Canmore celebrates the artistic achievements of its citizens, and the contributions of individuals and groups to the arts in Canmore each year at the Mayor’s Awards for Arts & Culture.

The event kicks off Canmore’s annual arts festival, artsPeak, and has seen sold-out attendance and solid community and corporate support since its inception in 2004.

The Mayor’s awards luncheon celebrates established and emerging talents, as well as recognizes and encourages partnerships to support a healthy and flourishing cultural environment.

The Community Public Art Committee(CPAC) was established in 2004. It's membership includes a representative from the Canadian Mountain Arts Foundation and the Community Enrichment Advisory Committee, a member of Canmore Town Council, members of the community at large and an administrative representative from the Town's Community Enrichment Service Area.

The purpose of CPAC is: to foster an appreciation for the role of public art in our community; to ensure that a high standard of public art is maintained; and to over see the planning, placement, acquisition and maintenance practices of public art.

CPAC also works with Town administration to coordinate the annual Mayor's Awards for Arts and Culture.

The Town of Canmore gratefully acknowledges CPAC's contribution to arts and culture in our community.
